John Hall I love everything about this track--the lyrics, the double tracked vocals, the musical performances, the backing vocals, the production/sound design. I love the drum sounds, and how punchy the bass (actually cello) is. It's kind of boring how much I like this track, although not for me. And really, the whole album is great!! Favorite track: Fallen Creature.

FALLEN CREATURE I am a fallen creature who knows my way around the ground I know insects worms and arachnids I know silken threads the stickiness of woven webs I speak to xylem and phloem I know where roots come tendril home I speak to burrowing dwellers and get the tour of many cellars I made a promise long ago gave up the sky to live below My heart was heavy at that time now it’s gone and I’m not mine The price of love is never cheap but the price of not loving is eternal sleep The ink of that promise is dripping still Whoever said we have free will? I’ve been waiting for the ink to dry and I don’t think it will, ever dry, dry dry dry dry Nothing quite lays like the moon on the water, a thousand bright pieces left from the sun’s slaughter And I wish I could follow you I wish I could follow you, follow you by Jane LeCroy

I love being in the flat in Chelsea You must come sit on the patio with me Swept up the dirt and dying leaves You’ll be pleased You’ll be pleased Wheel of Time same old grind nothing stays and nothing’s mine see the signs heinous crimes everything’s wrong but we’ll feel fine we’ll feel fine everything’s wrong but we’ll feel fine bring some smokes bring some jokes bring some other herbs to toke We’ll have wine troubles left behind clear the mind everything’s wrong but we’ll feel fine

Invictus 02:36
Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. oh my soul, oh my soul In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. oh my soul, oh my soul Your days are numbered, so make them count you are atoms from what’s around what you eat and what you make how you live and how you play what you love and what you hate what you think and what you take Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. unafraid, oh my soul It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. of my soul…

Willa 02:59
L’Envoi by Willa Cather Where are the loves that we have loved before When once we are alone, and shut the door? No matter whose the arms that held me fast, The arms of Darkness hold me at the last. No matter down what primrose path I tend, I kiss the lips of Silence in the end. No matter on what heart I found delight, I come again unto the breast of Night. No matter when or how love did befall, ’Tis Loneliness that loves me best of all, And in the end she claims me, and I know That she will stay, though all the rest may go. No matter whose the eyes that I would keep Near in the dark, ’tis in the eyes of Sleep That I must look and look forever more, When once I am alone, and shut the door.

Don’t believe in the Bible’s Jesus not Mohamed nor Torah’s Moses No religion, Monotheism I be hatin’ on all their judgin’ Chorus: I made it rain, I made a rainbow, In the driveway I used a garden hose Sometimes I’m God, and this life is heaven Sometimes it’s Hell, when I’m the devil Some people think that there are reasons for everything in life that happens but it’s our power to find the magic in everything that is tragic (chorus) Don’t blame God or the devil No absolute good or evil we make up meaning, human being Human being (chorus)

The way they wanted their mouths to fit image to line-up, thoughts to map eyes to lock and skin to snap... The way they wanted to please the other show the ropes, suspend the mother invert her body, world upside down... The way they ran away but stayed in town an antique factory, a bathroom stall a pier on her birthday, appear not to fall... They wanted so much, there was never enough playing soft, playing tough, another whiskey, another smoke the closer to truth the bigger the joke... The way they wanted more than this life The way they got it, despite the grief The way they wanted more than this life The way they got it, despite the grief...

Motorcycle 02:33
though obviously smarter, it's true, I will not stop riding the motorcycle I will continue to take dangerous hikes solo through rough terrain shoulds and musts- unheeded talks and warns- in vain pick until infected scratch until it bleeds eat sugar, fat, salted butter lose umbrella, find trouble no helmet for the bicycle no life-jacket for the canoe say too much, won’t shut up hit SEND too soon stay up late, sleep late smoke all kinds of things, drink until silly, fall to pieces, think my arms are wings fall to pieces make myself new no matter how much sense it makes, I will not give up you no matter how much sense it makes, I will not give up you I will not give up you

Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made; Those are pearls that were his eyes: Nothing of him that doth fade, But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange. Into something rich and strange. Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell: Ding-dong. Hark! now I hear them—Ding-dong, bell. Ding-dong. Full fathom five thy father lies; Nothing of him that doth fade, But doth suffer a sea-change Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made; Nothing of him that doth fade, But doth suffer a sea-change

Ocean Liner 02:25
We will guide the ocean liner To its frozen tomb We will guide the ocean liner Split the ship in two We are melting, we are calving Harbingers of doom We will guide the ocean liner Passengers and crew Break hearts on waves Show them cold graves Sink their treasure Hear their cries Fill their lungs And close their eyes We will guide the ocean liner Our home is the sea We know tyrants there's no God We do not have a king We are floating we are moving We are fully ice We are mostly underwater We are before Christ Drown them drown them... Break hearts on waves Show them cold graves Sink their treasure Hear their cries Fill their lungs And close their eyes Drown them drown them Drown them drown them...

Pareidolia 03:20
I see your face on the moon when I stare for seconds or hours I see your face when I close my eyes you’re a constellation in the stars you’re at the bottom of my cup in the folds of my crumpled sheets you’re the hydrant and the phone in moiré patterns and wood grain I see your face on the Palisades when I look across the river I see your face animated as the water quivers I see your face in the outlet I see your face in the clouds I see your face in my words though I cannot say your name out loud your image your image the imagination we’ve all been burned by Mother Nature rock face says it all

Add Vice 03:27
What are you using to rip out your eyes- so you don’t have to look? What are you using to rip out your eyes- so you don’t have to look? What are you using to rip out your eyes? 4X What drug, what drink makes it all go away- what lips, whose kiss? What kind of touch makes it bearable- the feather, the whip? What are you using to rip out your eyes? 4X The horror of the everyday the repetition, the stark replay What song do you listen to? With whom do you dance? What are you using to rip out your eyes? 4X (solo) Lips numb from whiskey, eyes smoke Lips numb from whiskey, eyes smoke What are you using to rip out your eyes? 4X What are you using to rip out your eyes….

Little Lamb 02:52
Where are you going, my little lamb? Surely, you’ll die with no one to watch you and when you are away from various eyes you will slip by finally, finally, finally, finally Red Sheep, Red Sheep have you any wool yes sir, yes sir, three bags full but my body is bare, bare to the meat isn’t life empty, isn’t it sweet Your life is worth your skin pound for pound your wrapper’s your gold Your sins don’t count no matter what you been told Where are you going, my little lamb? Surely, you’ll die with no one to watch you and when you are away from various eyes you will slip by And when you see the days are longer than nights you’ll find yourself lonesome by the light because even the light is scary where You find yourself nowhere finally, finally, finally, finally No use in trying, you were born dying Wolves are always waiting And you are always bleating bleeding, bleating, bleeding, bleating bleeding, bleating, bleeding, bleating Where are you going, my little lamb? Surely, you’ll die with no one to watch you and when you are away from various eyes you will slip by
